Breakcold helps you keep your data clean by detecting and managing duplicate records.
Breakcold helps you keep your data clean by detecting and managing duplicate records. This guide will walk you through how Duplicate Management works and what steps you need to take.
### What Is Duplicate Management?
Duplicate Management is a feature in Breakcold that finds and merges duplicate records like contacts so your database stays clean and accurate.
***
## How It Works
Breakcold automatically detects possible duplicate contacts using:
* Same **full name**
* Same **LinkedIn URL** or **email address**
* And 20+ other smart checks
⚠️ **Note:** Breakcold **does not merge duplicates automatically**.
You’ll need to **manually review** each flagged match and choose what to do.
## What You Can Do
* Merge duplicates **individually**
* Use **bulk merge** for multiple confirmed matches
* Mark as **"Not a duplicate"** if the contact is valid and should remain separate
***
## Best Practices
* Regularly review the **Duplicate Management** section
* Use **bulk merge** when confident about multiple matches
* Always verify before merging to avoid data loss
* Use consistent formats when importing or creating contacts
* Take advantage of the **Chrome extension** to help prevent duplicates before
* they’re added
***
**💡 Tip:** When using the Chrome extension, Breakcold will notify you if a contact already exists helping you avoid duplicates at the source.

## What is Lead Source Tracking?
Lead Source Tracking shows you which channels bring in leads that actually turn into sales. Instead of just counting leads, you focus on the ones that convert well.
***
## Why did we build this?
Sometimes one channel brings a lot of leads but few convert. Other channels might bring fewer leads but with a higher conversion rate.
This feature helps you find your **best channels** so you can focus your efforts where it counts.
***
## What does the feature do?
It breaks down your pipeline into 3 key analytics:
* Deal won value by lead source
* Pipeline generated by lead source
* Deal lost value by lead source
***
## What data is tracked?
* Lead source name
* Deal value
* Number of leads
* Comparison to the previous period (on this screenshot there are no data on the previous period)

on the right side panel.
It includes:
* Social interactions (like LinkedIn messages)
* Email conversations (sent, opened, or replied)
* Notes you’ve added

Hey Breakcolders 😎
We finally released our Make integration. Here's a video that summarize one of the most important actions that you can do with this integration 👇

PS: subscribe to the YT channel 🙏
## 1°) Why adding Make?
Make is the number 1 alternative to Zapier when it comes to what you can achieve and pricing (much cheaper than Zapier).
The action trigger that you'll probably use the most is new lead.
As for actions, create or Update lead is the go to.
## 2°) Ideas of Make workflows
* when a lead form is submitted on WEBFLOW/TALLY/CLICKFUNNELS/OTHER (1), create a lead inside Breakcold (2)
* when someone books a meeting on my CALENDLY/CAL.COM (1), create or update leads (2)
Here's also a workflow idea that I designed for one of our customers 👇
## 3°) What's next?
* CRM analytics
* Custom Fields rework (and included in API, Zapier, Make etc)

* Breakcold connects based on your location (e.g., if you're in Texas, it's using a Texas IP).
* LinkedIn doesn’t mind different IPs, especially if you travel or work remotely.
* The real issue is using multiple LinkedIn tools at the same time, which makes your activity look unnatural.

## 1. Push leads from Breakcold to a HeyReach campaign MANUALLY
Once you've installed the HeyReach integration by using your HeyReach's API key:
1. Go to the people section
2. Select a list
3. Filter the leads the way you want
4. Click on the three dots on the top right next to display and click on push to HeyReach
5. Choose the Campaign where you want the leads to go
## 2. Push leads from Breakcold to a HeyReach campaign AUTOMATICALLY
Push leads from Breakcold to HeyReach AUTOMATICALLY when leads enter a specific list and sales pipeline stage.
## 3. Workflow ideas with this integration:
* Push leads to a nurturing multi-channel campaign once you've moved them to a re-engage sales pipeline stage
* Liking and commenting 1 to 3 LinkedIn posts with Breakcold to social warm leads THEN move them to a sales pipeline stage named HeyReach campaign to push leads to a send LinkedIn invites and push it back to Breakcold once accepted.
* Move leads from the pipeline stage "Discovery Call" to "No-Show" and automatically send a LinkedIn message to try to get them back (imo the calendly email sequence features are not great to make people re-book).
## 4. Do you guys plan to release an integration from HeyReach to Breakcold?Good question 🤓
For now you'll have to use the webhook feature of HeyReach and combine it with Zapier, Make or other to push positive replies to Breakcold (that's what most people do).
Along the way, the HeyReach team might make the experience seamless on their side to have a perfect double-way sync' (don't harass them though, they're aware of the demand, we even setup a Slack channel for it 😂)
## 5. Do you have case studies showcasing real life workflows between HeyReach and Breakcold that got RESULTS?
Yes.
We'll soon drop a 16 minutes video case study of Steven Brady that perfectly took advantage of both softwares to get results for himself and clients.
He added \$17,250/mo in less than 4 months with workflows between HeyReach and Breakcold even before the native integration.
## 6. What are the upcoming integrations?
You can see the upcoming integrations by going to the App Store section of Breacold here.
We're 1 week late on the dates displayed but we should catch up in the next 2 weeks by shipping more to compensate.
Right now we're shipping the outbound tool integrations (1), we'll then move on to other categories (eg. email enrichment, calling etc).
You can request a new integration with the button in the App Store section (bottom right of this image).

2 months ago, I realized with [Alex's case study](https://www.breakcold.com/case-studies/alex) that we started to have more and more Breakcold customers using Reply.
So we decided to ship [Reply](https://reply.io/) as one of the first native integrations on Breakcold 🔥
[Watch demo video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fE_mrUGeWl4)
[
](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fE_mrUGeWl4)
## 1. Push leads from Breakcold to a Reply sequence MANUALLY
Once you've installed the Reply integration by using your **Reply's API key**:
1. Go to the people section
2. Select a list
3. Filter the leads the way you want
4. Click on the three dots on the top right next to display and click on push to Reply.io
5. Choose the Sequence where you want the leads to go
The leads will then be in your sequence and also in the contacts section of Reply in the corresponding sequence list.
## 2. Push leads from Breakcold to a Reply sequence AUTOMATICALLY
Push leads from Breakcold to Reply **AUTOMATICALLY** when leads enter a specific list and sales pipeline stage.
For example you can say:
When leads enter the CUSTOMERS list AND go to the stage Nurture Conversation THEN push them automatically to the Engaged LinkedIn Sequence (see picture below)
I believe that this use case is very good because it allows you to automate your workflows.
There are many use cases as with Reply you can build multi-channel sequences (incl. WhatsApp & SMS which is rare on some tools)
## 3. Workflow ideas with this integration:
* Push leads to a nurturing multi-channel campaign once you've moved them to a re-engage sales pipeline stage
* Liking and commenting 1 to 3 LinkedIn posts with Breakcold to social warm leads THEN move them to a sales pipeline stage named REPLY campaign to push leads to a cold multi-channel sequence (with LinkedIn, Email & WhatsApp).
* Move leads from the pipeline stage "Discovery Call" to "No-Show" and automatically send a cold email to try to get them back (imo the calendly email sequence features are not great to make people re-book).
## 4. Why it's not possible to push leads from Reply to Breakcold? For example pushing positive replies to Breakcold?
Good question 🤓
Normally it's the job of the other software (here its Reply) to ship this integration natively on their side.
But we don't know if they might be able to ship if rapidly or at all.
So depending on what happens we'll try to find a workaround to build something for you so that you have a perfect native integration on both ends 🫡
If you're a customer of the software, you can also harass them to integrate us ahah
## 5. What are the upcoming integrations?
You can see the upcoming integrations by going to the App Store section of Breacold [here](https://app.breakcold.com/settings/applications?page=0).

[Watch demo video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fVcjJuwYXAA)
[
](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fVcjJuwYXAA)
## 1. Why is this integration great?
* Trigify helps you turn your likers and commenters into leadsd
* Trigify helps you detect social signals on your leads (eg. job detection change, keywords used in posts & more)
* Using Trigify you can find new leads and pushing them to Breakcold (1) and do social listening on existing leads (2)
* The concept of Trigify is still very new so I will make sure that in the coming weeks you guys will have a whole in-depth tutorial because this software is fireee.
## 2. How to use this integration?
You can find the Trigify application in the AppStore [here](https://app.breakcold.com/settings/applications/6357e1cd-e324-4742-ba07-8ad7157bb646?page=0)
1. Go to settings and take your API key here
2. Login to Trigify => [https://www.trigify.io/](https://www.trigify.io/)
3. Inside Trigify go to integration
4. Choose Breakcold and copy paste your API key
5. Now you can push leads to Breakcold from Trigify
## 3. Use cases of Trigify before pushing to Breakcold
You can upload a list of leads and monitor some social signals like:
* new posts
* job change
* viral posts, etc
You can discover new leads based on the keywords they're using on LinkedIn and then pushing them to Breakcold to engage that specific post (see demo video)
You can put your LinkedIn URL, the one from your competitors or others to monitor the engagement they get to collect qualified leads (you can then filter them based on multiple criterias)
## What's next on integrations?
This is the FIRST VERSION, in the future we plan to do the following:
**Workflows possible in the future (on Trigify’s side)**
* push leads to a specific CRM list and optionally to a precise sales pipeline
* push leads to Breakcold manually from Signals & Listening
* update lead fields automatically in BC from job detection change + trigger a trigify task in BC
**Workflows possible in the future (on Breakcold’s side)**
* push leads manually from Breakcold to a Trigify Audience (eg. pushing all the leads in the list ‘Monitor’)
* push leads automatically from Breakcold to a Trigify Audience (eg. when lead goes from stage A to stage B, push lead to Monitor Audience).

* you'll find in this new section all the native integrations of Breakcold built by us but also by our partners.
* our goal is to ship at least 1 new native integration per week in 2025, reply to this email with the integration that you want the most
## 2. Three types of Slack actions
**Notify me on Pipeline Change**: if a lead enter a specific sales pipeline stage, it triggers a slack notification
**Notify on Task Due**: instead of receiving an email notification, you receive a Slack alert when the task is due
**Notify on Lead Score Change**: for example if your lead goes from Medium to Weak, you automatically get a Slack alert
## 3. Everything is customizable with variables
You can build the message that you want in the slack channel that you desire. Using variables, you can customize the message with the attributes/fields of your leads.
This is how a slack alert can look like.

Yes, Breakcold is designed to be safe for your LinkedIn account.
Proper usage and adherence to LinkedIn's policies ensure that Breakcold remains a safe tool for enhancing your networking and outreach efforts.
* 0 bans out of 10,000+ users
* Breakcold is not a LinkedIn automation tool.
* Many users rely on LinkedIn as their main platform, so safety is a top priority.
**Important**: If you’re using other LinkedIn automation tools, your risk of getting restricted increases, especially if you're doing a lot of actions that seem unnatural (e.g., nonstop activity 8am - 8pm). Even some LinkedIn influencers have been restricted simply for over-engaging manually.If you’ve used an automation tool before, log out and log back into Breakcold to prevent other tools from using your LinkedIn session.To ensure a safe experience, we recommend following these practices:
* **Limit Connection Requests and Messages:** Avoid sending a high volume of requests or messages in a short timeframe.
* **Personalize Your Messages:** Tailoring messages minimizes the risk of appearing automated.
* **Take Regular Breaks:** Distribute your activities throughout the day, resembling natural user behavior.It is important to understand that LinkedIn may flag unnatural activities, such as excessive or repetitive actions, as violations of its policies. These issues arise from behavior patterns rather than faults in Breakcold itself.

Connection Strength is automatically calculated based on your **Email and LinkedIn interactions** with a lead. The score is categorized as follows:
* **None**: 0
* **Weak**: 1–25
* **Medium**: 26–49
* **Good**: 50–74
* **Strong**: 75+
Without going too deep into the algorithm, it's designed to reflect real engagement, you won’t be able to “cheat” the score by simply liking all of a lead's LinkedIn posts. Every action is weighted differently depending on the stage of the interaction to keep the scoring realistic.
If no interactions occur, the score will gradually decrease over time.

# How to use Custom Attributes
Source: https://developer.breakcold.com/v3/getting-started-attributes
Learn how to effectively use custom attributes in Breakcold to enhance your workflows.
## 1. Get the Field ID You Want to Update
To update a custom attribute, you first need its Field ID. Here’s how to find it:
1. Navigate to [**Person**](https://app.breakcold.com/settings/data/person) or [**Company Settings**](https://app.breakcold.com/settings/data/company) in your Breakcold workspace settings
2. Locate the field you want to update.
3. Click on the three dots next to the field and select **Copy attribute ID**.
### Special Note for `Select`, `MultiSelect`, `Location`,`Date`, or `Relation` Attribute Types
Custom attributes can have special behaviors depending on their types. Here are some key points to remember:
* **`Select`, `MultiSelect` Attributes**:
The value can be a single option ID or an array of option IDs. The backend will handle the conversion automatically.
* **`Location` Attributes**:
The value should be an object with the following properties:
```json theme={null}
{
"latitude": 48.8566,
"longitude": 2.3522,
"address": "Paris, France"
}
```
* **`Date` Attributes**:
The value must be in ISO 8601 format.
* **`Relation` Attributes**:
The value must be the ID of the related lead.
***
## 2. Create or Update a Lead with Custom Attributes
When [creating](/v3/api-reference/leads/create-a-lead) or [updating](/v3/api-reference/leads/update-a-lead) a lead, include the attributes you want to modify in the **body** of the API request. Here's an example:
```json theme={null}
{
"attributes": {
"company-size": 500,
"last-contact-date": "2023-05-10T14:30:00Z",
"is-qualified": true,
"industry": "option-id-tech",
"date": "2023-05-10T14:30:00Z",
"interests": ["option-id-ai", "option-id-cloud"],
"location": {
"latitude": 48.8566,
"longitude": 2.3522,
"address": "Paris, France"
},
"related-lead": "lead-id-12345",
"notes": "Interested in our enterprise solution"
}
}
```
### Important Notes:
* Ensure that all **`Select`** or **`MultiSelect`** attribute values are valid IDs. Incorrect or unrecognized IDs will result in an error.
* **`Location` Attributes**:
The backend expects latitude, longitude, and address values to be present in the object.
* **`Relation` Attributes**:
The value must be the ID of the related lead.
* **`Date` Attributes**:
The value must be in ISO 8601 format.
For more details on request structure and available endpoints, refer to the [API Reference](#).
***
### Error Handling
* Unrecognized IDs or invalid values for `Select`, `Relation` or `MultiSelect` attributes will return an error.
* Ensure proper data structure for `Location` attributes.
For more details on request structure and available endpoints, refer to the [API Reference](/v3/api-reference/).

## 3. You're Done! 🎉
Congratulations! You’ve successfully used custom attributes in Breakcold.
If you encounter any errors, double-check your Field IDs and values, especially for **Select**, **Location**, and **Relation** attributes.

## Authentication
To use Breakcold API, you need to authenticate yourself using your API key. You can find your API key on your Breakcold dashboard here [Integrations settings](https://app.breakcold.com/settings/integrations).
Updated API Key Required for Some Endpoints
Please be advised that certain endpoints in the API documentation require the latest version of the API key. The new key version begins with "breakcold-usr". To obtain the new key, please revoke your previous one.
Failure to update your API key may result in access failure or other issues. Thank you for your cooperation.
### Header Parameters for Authentication with API Key
Your Breakcold API key.
```
{
"method": "GET",
"url": "https://api.breakcod.com/lead/123
"headers": {
"Content-Type": "application/json",
"X-API-Key": "YOUR_API_KEY_HERE"
}
}
```
## Endpoint
The endpoint for Breakcold API is `https://api.breakcold.com/rest`.
## Rate Limiting
To ensure stability and fair use for everyone, our API enforces rate limits per user.
**Current rule:**
* You can send up to **60 requests per 60-seconds window**.
If you exceed this limit, the API will return a **`429 Too Many Requests`** error until your quota resets.
**How to check your current usage**
Each API response includes rate-limit information in the headers:
| Header | Description |
| ----------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------ |
| `X-RateLimit-Limit` | The maximum number of requests allowed per window (e.g. 60). |
| `X-RateLimit-Remaining` | How many requests you have left in the current window. |
| `X-RateLimit-Reset` | Time (in seconds) until the limit resets. |
By checking these headers, you can monitor your usage and avoid hitting the limit.
**Example**
```http theme={null}
HTTP/1.1 200 OK
X-RateLimit-Limit: 60
X-RateLimit-Remaining: 12
X-RateLimit-Reset: 145
```
In this example:
* You’ve made 48 requests so far (60 - 12 = 48).
* Your limit will reset in 145 seconds.

# Webhook
Source: https://developer.breakcold.com/webhook
## Introduction
Webhooks are a way for two applications to communicate with each other in real-time. When an event occurs in one application, a webhook can be used to send a payload of data to a URL specified by the other application. The receiving application can then take action based on the data in the payload.
Manage your Webhook endpoint's [here](https://app.breakcold.com/settings/webhook)
## Usage
### Supported Events
The following events are currently supported by our Webhook:
* **Lead Events**: `lead.create`, `lead.update`, `lead.delete`
* **Lead Activity Events**: `lead.status.update`, `lead.lists.update`, `lead.tags.update`, `lead.track`, `lead.task.create`, `lead.task.update`, `lead.task.delete`, `lead.note.create`, `lead.note.update`, `lead.note.delete`
* **List Events**: `list.create`, `list.update`, `list.delete`
* **Status Events**: `status.create`, `status.update`, `status.delete`
* **Tag Events**: `tag.create`, `tag.update`, `tag.delete`
[More info on the events](https://developer.breakcold.com/events)
### Payload
The payload of a webhook contains the data that is being sent from one application to another. Here is a sample payload:
```json theme={null}
{
"id_space": "eb8edc65-129a-4cb6-abbe-6bf8979c0658",
"event": "lead.create",
"secret": "wh_a46f35f22d9723a",
"payload": {
"id": "e106db1f-aba3-40ba-97a7-507b54757ef8",
"email": null,
"company": null,
"notes": null,
"phone": null,
"linkedin_url": null,
"created_at": "2023-04-29T11:13:55.021Z",
"updated_at": null,
"first_name": "Jean",
"icebreaker": "",
"last_name": "remove",
"website_url": null,
"timezone": null,
"city": null,
"company_role": null,
"twitter_name": null,
"avatar_url": null,
"icebreaker_2": "",
"icebreaker_3": "",
"icebreaker_4": "",
"email_bounce_score": null,
"twitter_company_name": null,
"is_deleted": false,
"is_deleted_at": null,
"order": 0,
"contract_value": 0,
"is_tracked": false,
"id_import_task": null,
"id_linkedin_company": null,
"id_linkedin": null,
"id_space": "eb8edc65-129a-4cb6-abbe-6bf8979c0658",
}
}
```
The payload contains the following fields:
* **id\_space**: The ID of the space that the event occurred in.
* **event**: The event that occurred.
* **secret**: A secret value that is included in the payload to verify the source of the webhook.
* **payload**: The data that is being sent with the webhook. The structure of this data will depend on the event that occurred.
### Delivery Failed
If the delivery of a webhook fails 10 times, the webhook endpoint will be paused. There is no retry policy, so it is up to the receiving application to handle any errors that occur during the delivery of a webhook.
## Conclusion
Webhooks are a powerful tool for integrating two applications in real-time. By using webhooks, your application can respond to events as they happen and take action based on the data that is sent with the event.
