# Can VAT numbers be added to past invoices?

**No.** Once an invoice is issued, it’s locked and can’t be changed. This is to follow tax laws and keep records accurate.

**Why not?**

* **Invoices are finalized:** After they’re created, invoices are locked to prevent changes.
* **No manual edits allowed:** Even if you added your VAT number before buying, but after the invoice was made, it still can't be added.
